Last evening, the following points about the forest fire in New Mexico were garbled out so fast that we had to go online to figure out what the facts were (below), where the forest fire was referred to as “the largest megafire ever”. More correctly though, in this increasingly warmer climate, the largest megafire yet…
A record breaking forest fire is burning in New Mexico.
1200 fire fighters were on the scene.
The fire covered “1600 thousand” [sic] acres (sounded like sixteen hundred thousand acres).
Now, at the very start of the broadcast, they hyped the above “big news” as a teaser, and also every time just before they cut away for yet another commercial… When they finally did air the succinct ditty — next to last — it took all of 5 or 6 seconds to simply state the above with a quick picture of the fire. Then, guess what, they cut away to another commercial…
Someone at the tiki bar came up with “slam bam, thank you stupid” to label this type of absolute corporate-owned mainstream media craporama…
Nothing else, no investigative reporting as to WHY, nothing about global warming, not even a smokescreen deception attempt like blaming natural things like La Nina, which already ended anyway….
So, we did some digging, and below are some actual pertinent facts from various articles on the megafire in New Mexico.

The megafire as of yesterday covered 339 square miles.

The megafire is burning in a national forest.

They expect dry lightning to increase the size of the megafire.

Extended forecasts calls for prolonged hot, dry conditions for the summer and fall.

Experts stated this megafire is “just a preview of things to come across the west”.

The megafire is “expected to burn for weeks”.

The megafire is “pouring smoke into other southern plains states”.

Surprisingly, there was an article in the denierologist USA Today noozarama titled “Parched New Mexico gets a taste of global warming“.
And interestingly, an online search for the megafire produced numerous hits on the deleterious adverse effects of global warming on new mexico. Doesnt everyone get it yet?
Saturday UPDATE:

8 states are now beset with forest fires, with 700,000 acres burning nationwide.

250,000 acres — or 350 square miles are now burning in the New Mexico megafire.

Heat records broken today in southwest.

High winds will be moving into the southwest tomorrow.

No rain is forecast for New Mexico until the end of July.
