“Anyone that believes that exponential growth can go on forever in a finite world is either a madman or an economist”. — Kenneth Boulding.
“We are using more water than the rain can renew, catching more fish than are spawned, cutting down more timber than we can regrow, pumping more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than can be absorbed, and depleting topsoil that took tens of thousands of years to accumulate. The worlds massive population growth will be in the countries least capable of managing their water, agriculture, fisheries and forestry. Managing these unsustainable resources is a nonnegotiable condition for life.” — James Martin.
First realize that the population of this already overpopulated planet is now doubling in time frames of less than every fifty years. Further, the length of time that it takes for the population to double is increasingly less by several years each time…
In only the last two centuries, the number of people on the planet has skyrocketed from one billion in 1800 to two billion around 1930 (doubling in 130 years), to four billion by the 1975 (doubling again in only 45 years), is nearing seven billion now, and is expected to reach twelve billion by mid century.
See the increasing progression of more people begetting more people?
Further, if this maddening growth rate remains constant, with the population doubling in less and less time, the population will near twelve billion by mid century, and then reach twenty four billion by the end of the century.
Then consider that currently 15,000 children die of malnutrition related causes or just plain starve to death each and every day, along with the facts that we have already reached “peak food”, “peak water”, “peak oil”, have exceeded “peak people”, and then factor in the additional adverse load on runaway global warming from having four times as many humans by just the end of this century.
Now, the premise of capitalistic corporate greed calls for more people to feed their hungry money machine. Politicians, the government, and the media are owned by those same mindless capitalistic corporate pharmaceutically lobotomized morons, so they not only do nothing about the seven billion headed monster in the planetary room, they actually discourage any efforts for family planning and encourage rampant aggression against those that do have enough sense to try to do something about the runaway population.
Those of us that still have any sense must band together and do something to stop this certifiable planetary suicide.
Note that we have set up this page initially as a place marker reminder — using content from our “why” page on overpopulation — to eventually flesh out this planet-destroying monster problem in the global room. Check back, there is a lot more crucial information with this enormous problem than what we have initially plopped in below…
+++++ DRAFT UNDER CONSTRUCTION +++++
“Pardon our dust”: we realize that we are “launching” this effort while it is still in a very incomplete and even raw state, but felt compelled to start “getting the message out” as soon as possible seeking concerned citizens around this eroding planet to join this new movement, because the countdown is on to the 2012 U.S. elections, and you and I have a lot of work to do before then. We will complete and refine this content and will officially launch this “Fix America” segment under a new, more appropriate website name/URL, separate from this obscure point of origin which we are only initially using to “draft” the eventual website which will go “live” by the middle of this year… Will you or someone you know join us in this sincere and monumental effort?
