WARNING: if you are unaware of how the media is blatantly deceiving Americans and have anger management issues, or high blood pressure, or don’t sleep well at night, you might want to avoid the information below or take some form of “medication” first…
We have decided that due to the overwhelming pile of smelly evidence regarding the complicity and collusion of corporate owned media conglomerations with politicians and government agencies, that we would just attempt to list some of the more crucial issues in concise bullet point fashion below.
But first, one precaution: if at some point you are washed over with a feeling of hopelessness that all is lost because the mainstream media is deceiving and brainwashing Americans, be assured that there are solutions to the media problems. We provide some methods that must be pursued to fix the current problems with the big business biased media and their duplicitous politicians on the “WMD Solutions” page at this link.
Also, we provide some reliable alternative media sources (as well as precautions on some of the maybe not so obvious biased media shills) on the “WMD Alternatives” page at this link while at the bottom of this page we have added a psuedo-bibliography that constitutes our media knowledge base. Now, the list…

We start off the list with this quote from the intro of the book “News Incorporated: corporate media ownership and its threat to democracy”. “American mainstream media have become the watchdog and guardian of the corporate bottom line instead of the vanguard of democracy and the public interest. What Americans see, hear, and read is now under the careful scrutiny of corporate headquarters, and, as a result, the public receives a homogenized, self-censored, self-serving version of [altered] reality. Driven by profit maximization, these colossal corporate media empires have cooperatively joined ranks with government offices and agencies at the highest federal levels, spinning off an intricate, seamless politico-corporate media web of deception. Instead of protecting against abuses of government power by keeping the public adequately informed, they have become complicit in destabilizing and undermining American democracy”, which sums up the deplorable situation fairly well..

A Sonoma State University research study revealed that the 118 members of the boards of directors of the top ten largest media organizations also were board members of 288 national and transnational “globalist” corporations and that four of the top ten media corporations also just happen to have military contractors as members of their boards of directors. Can you say “bingo!”?

Now, an example of the plethora of duplicitous collusion between the government, big media, and the corporations that own them both. General Electric supplies jet engines to Lockheed Martin. Lockheed Martin is a major government contractor for nuclear weapons and missiles. GE and Lockheed Martin have joint ventures including a joint research center (do they smoke joints during their research?). Lockheed Martin awarded GE a fifty million dollar contract for presidential helicopter engines in 2005. GE outspends everyone lobbying in DC and doling out millions in campaign contributions. Microsoft (co-owner of MSNBC along with GE) established a government division for procurement of government contracts with the Department of Defense. MSNBC cast the war with Iraq in a favorable light and anyone that did not do the same was labelled as unpatriotic by them. Nauseated yet? Brings to mind that fable of the fox guarding the hen house…except it’s more like a whore house…

An essential quote from the book “The Last Days of Democracy” (see psuedo-bibliography following this list): “The mainstay of the daily American news diet is quite literally a paid political announcement. Instead of protecting against abuses of government power by keeping us adequately informed [of reality], these [media] companies have become complicit in destabilizing and undermining our freedom and democracy”.
-
The corporate owned media outlets have purged investigative journalists that dared to attack or expose the “sacred cows” of corporations and government institutions (see lead-in quote at top of this page).
-
The revolving door between government media agencies and corporate media: Meredith Attwell Baker as Commissioner of the FCC, aka the Federal Communications Crooks, approved the recent merger of Comcast with NBC Universal. She is now leaving the FCC to join Comcast to collect her reward for letting the two media conglomerations to meld into one more media behemoth.
-
Dan Rather one week after the “911″ terrorist attack on Letterman show: “Bush is the president, he makes the decisions…wherever he wants me to line up, just tell me…and he’ll make the call.” Rather and other journalists were said to have been intimidated and were in fear of being labelled unpatriotic, so the news was cooked…
-
Daniel Schorr was fired by CBS because he sent a secret congressional intelligence report to the ‘Village Voice’ when CBS had refused to air the report. Schorr was said to have indicated that CBS had been ordered to go easy on the White House administration.
-
If you might recall the irreverent muckracking San Jose Mercury news, stop and consider that it has fallen off the radar. It was bought out and changed into an “infotainment” media source, casting bright shiny objects rather than reality.
-
The “Suppression by Omission” tactic. In 1965, the CIA trained and financed military of Indonesia that overthrew the ruling communist party, killing between a half million and a million citizens in what was the largest political mass murder since the Nazi holocaust. There was no mention in the media of this for three months, and then it was a business as usual token mention in the April 5th 1966 New York Times. Makes you wonder what is going on nowadays with the shield of “the war on terror”…

The “Suppression by Suppression” tactic. The film industry is of course complicit, being owned by the big media monopolies. The Michael Moore films which exposed the government, the finance system, industry polluters and all that is crooked in America are not shown in the theaters of big media. No sense giving a larger audience to anyone exposing their bias and corruption…

- Many major so called news programs are owned by actual entertainment companies — i.e., “News Corp” owns the so called Fox “news” [sic] program — John Dean, formerly of a Republican administration, refers to them on the one hand politely as “Republicans without conscience”, yet also labels them as mean spirited, malicious, disrespectful of codes of civility, intolerant, prejudiced, dishonest, dogmatic, hypocritical, and fierce. Consider Anne Coulter, who recently had the mindless audacity to state on the Faux Noose comedy hour that she knows more than physicists and that nuclear radiation is actually good for humans and cures cancer. We did not make that up. So, to John Dean’s list of descriptive adjectives of unconscionable Republican news whores, we would add comedic clowns… It is alarming to note that Faux news has a large following; surely most people watch it like some people rubberneck at fatal blood and brains smeared vehicular accidents?
-
The prior Republican administration quietly appointed Mark Rey as the top forestry official. Rey was a high level lobbyist for the timber and paper industries for 20 years. That fact was devoid from the news.
- The news program hosted by Phil Donahue was cancelled at a time when it had the highest ratings because he was presenting guests that were anti-war and the Republican administration put pressure on MSNBC to boot him off the airways.
-
Walter Cronkite in 2000: “I’ve been increasingly and publicly critical of the direction that journalism has taken of late…I’m deeply concerned about the merger mania that has swept our industry, diluting standards, dumbing down the news, and making the bottom line sometimes seem like the only line…Pressure to go along or to place the needs of advertisers or companies above the public’s need for reliable information distorts a free press and threatens democracy itself.”

Eleven years prior to the scam of the 2000 presidential election fiasco, an article in the obscure Silicon Valley Weekly (September 28, 1989) stated: “The next president of the U.S. may not be chosen by the voters” and went on to outline all of the impending problems of the 2000 election. Did the mainstream media ignore this, urged to do so by scheming politicians looking ahead? Surely not…

The congressional Advisory Committee Panel to Assess Domestic Response Capabilities for Terrorism Involving Weapons of Mass Destruction stated almost a year before the 9/11 terrorist attacks in December of 2000 that: “We are impelled [sic] by the stark realization that a terrorist attack on some level inside our borders is inevitable”. That is just the infinitesimal tip of the mountainous iceberg regarding forewarnings and negligence surrounding the 9/11 attack. Where was the mainstream media, where was the government? The answer is doing nothing except planning in collusion on how to take advantage of the coming terrorist crisis to increase their unconscionable empire, start more wars, and rob Americans of their liberties…
Disclaimer. We acknowledge that a few responsible journalists in the mainstream media prescribe to relatively unbiased and ethical reporting.
Lastly for now, we have noted that the FCC has a comment process whereby anyone can express their opinions regarding the media, however do not yet have detailed on info how to do so…
Just getting started, had to break off at this point, back at it in a day or two to flesh this out, but frankly even with this randomly discombobulated list the mainstream media problem is blatantly obvious…
Psuedo-bibliography
Below we provide a partial list of some of the better books from which we gained our knowledge of the situation with mainstream media, their corporate owners, and the intricate collusion with the government and it’s agencies…
“The Last Days of Democracy: how big media and power-hungry government are turning America into a dictatorship”.
“News Incorporated: corporate media ownership and it’s threat to democracy”.
“Abuse Your Illusions: the disinformation guide to media mirages and establishment lies”.
“Everything You Know is Wrong: the disinformation guide to secrets and lies”. A group of investigative journalists, academics, commentators, and dissidents provide documented evidence that the corp-gov big media bobbleheads are smokescreening, lowballing, downplaying, deceiving, and just plain lying to the beleaguered masses such that most everything you know is not exactly the truth. Link to their website.
“The Last Days of Democracy: how big media and power-hungry government are turning America into a dictatorship”. If the title seems conspiratorial or tabloidish, do not let that deter you because the information provided is well documented with solid references.
“What Orwell Didn’t Know: propaganda and the new [ugly] face of American politics”. That of course would be George Orwell of books such as “1984″ and “Animal Farm”; in retrospect, Orwell was off in some predictions, but this compilation brings to the surface that he was “on the money” with many of his points, many of them unbeknownst to the uninformed.
“Global Spin: the corporate assault on environmentalism”. Only slightly off subject, but points out the media spin on global warning along with some interesting information on some cloaked environmental organizations that seem to have “sold out” to the big money from big business (Greenpeace of all people…).
